PacificCARE Privacy Policy
PacificCARE collects personal information from interested parties, typically child care providers and parents directly as a result of registrations and child care referral requests. This information may be obtained in person, over the phone / fax or electronically through PacificCARE's website. Individuals provide the needed information - as requested - based on their personal need.
PacificCARE is committed to maintaining the principles of integrity, trust, and service with respect to the privacy of personal information. As part of our commitment, PacificCARE will protect the privacy of personal information collected from child care providers, parents, and others, during the course of its business operations. We will also protect personal information received from other sources. We will provide individuals with access to their own personal information collected when requested for a nominal charge to cover clerical time incurred.
To ensure this commitment, Pacific Child and Family Enrichment Society (PacificCARE) agrees to comply, in all material aspects, with the applicable privacy laws, in effect in the various jurisdictions we do business. In areas that PacificCARE does business and there are not laws enacted (example: USA), PacificCARE will uniformly apply the policy in these areas as well.
Purposes for Collecting Personal Information with Regards to Business Operations:
To provide, administer and manage the child care resource and referral program, or other special projects as needed, and to provide information to our third party insurance carrier, integral with PacificCARE's services to:
- undertake the supply of referrals to parents as requested.
- comply with the law and regulatory requirements, as a part of normal business transactions and record keeping.
- collect debts owed.
- provide parents with the information required to make an informed choice about child care.
- provide our clients with information about PacificCARE's programs, and services.
- provide you with information about possible referrals to related social services.

PacificCARE may Disclose Your Personal Information to:
- our insurance company for the purposes of liability insurance coverage
- our funding Ministry and other closely selected organizations for the purpose of enabling them to give you information about child care related services which may be of interest to you.
- bailiffs, collection agencies, lawyers and others when collecting a debt owed or enforcing an agreement between you and PacificCARE.
- the courts as authorized by law.
To Decline to Have Personal Information Collected, Used or Disclosed for Certain Purposes:
Certain personal information must be collected, used and disclosed with respect to normal business transactions; however, you may request to 'opt-out' of any non-essential data input.
Security:
PacificCARE employees are required to treat all personal information confidentially; and maintain reasonably available safeguards that comply in all material respects with industry standards to guard personal information against loss, destruction or modification.
Access:
Upon reasonable notice, in writing, PacificCARE will allow a person to access and review the personal information held by PacificCARE. Should the person believe that any personal information is incomplete or incorrect; the person may advise PacificCARE to update the information.
Training:
PacificCARE will train all employees with regards to their obligations regarding the Privacy Policy when dealing with personal, private information with respect to both customer information and employee information.
Retention:
PacificCARE will retain personal information in a manner that is consistent with its other statutory and legal requirements
Compliance and Complaints:
PacificCARE will appoint a Privacy Officer. The Privacy Officer (or designate) will promptly review and investigate allegations of this policy being violated. The review will look at practices and procedures that have occurred and determine the appropriate measures to be taken.
Through the Privacy Officer, PacificCARE will annually review and assess the Society's compliance with this policy. The annual review will normally occur during the 1st quarter of the year.
