Early Childhood Educator Employment Opportunity

Short term Contract leading to Full Time position as Preschool/Daycare Co-ordinator

IN UCLUELET (VANCOUVER ISLAND)

The Ucluelet and Area Child Care Society is poised to open a new, multi-age, group child care facility offering; infant toddler care, preschool care, and a playschool program.

Contract Position

The short term contract would involve preparing the facility for opening. In consultation with the Board of Directors, the Co-ordinator will be responsible for; developing a policy manual, registering children, completing the licensing package, recruiting staff, preparing the program curriculum, and budgeting for the purchase of toys, furniture, and equipment.

Full Time Position

• Once the contract is complete the Co-ordinator position will become a full time position and he or she will be responsible for directing all aspects of the centre including; staffing, program delivery, completing administrative tasks, liasing with the board and parents, collecting fees, preparing payroll, budgeting and ensuring licensing compliance.

Qualifications

Early Childhood Education or equivalent diploma in Child Studies * A minimum of 5 years experience in the child care field* Current First Aid and Infant/Child CPR* Thorough working knowledge of BC Child Care Licensing* Financial management skills* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills* High level of professionalism, confidentiality and diplomacy* Strong team management skills

Assets

Experience as a supervisor or assistant supervisor* Working knowledge of computers- Microsoft Office, Word, Excel* Infant Toddler and Special Needs ECE qualifications
